This powerful yet easy to program CMOS FLASH-based 8-bit microcontroller packs Microchip's powerful PIC RISC architecture into a 28-pin package and is upwards compatible with the PIC16C5X,
PIC12CXXX and PIC16C7X devices. The PIC16F876 features 256 bytes of EEPROM data memory, self programming, ICD/ICSP capability, 5 channels of 10-bit Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter, 3 timers, integrated
watch-dog, 2 capture/compare/PWM functions and a synchronous serial port. The synchronous serial port can be configured as either a 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI™), 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit
(I2C™) bus, or a Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (USART). All of these features make it ideal for more advanced level A/D applications in automotive, industrial, appliances and consumer applications.
Since the PIC16F876 is so feature rich, it is often used to develop projects that will not ultimately use the 16F876 but a different member of the mid-range family. This is made especially easy through
the use of our PIC-C Compilers. This microcontroller is also suitable for use in our PIC Prototyping Board with the aid of a
28-pin Mid/High-Range PIC Adapter.
